When photographing portraits never do the following:

• Shoot in a contrived setting
• Have the subject force a pose
• Have disingenuous expressions
• Take the whole frame so thet there is no place to layout typography
• Have talent dressed in overly bright colours, or in clothing marked with large logos/graphics
• Photoshop the subject onto a background in a way that feels fake
