When shooting portraits, ensure that the subject is framed in a way that leaves amicable space for headlines and typography, without intruding on the portrait. A basic formula would be to ensure the following:

The right 1/2 of the image is subject, and the left half is a soft focus background, allowing for overlay of typography. When creating portrait layouts consideration must also be given to allow approximately 1/4 breathing space above the subject.

Landscape
